I often see soccer players with groin pain or pain at the front of their hip. This can affect your ability to kick and might be happening if you are unable to activate your gluteus medius well.

The gluteus medius muscle is one of three gluteal (buttock) muscles. It has an important role in stabilising the pelvis in activities that require single leg stance.

The video below shows an exercise that can be used to activate the gluteus medius before playing/ kicking to improve kicking power and accuracy.

Remember, always consult a Physiotherapist or other Health Care Practitioner for proper assessment and treatment of your pain.
